Our School Curriculum ::

It is a privilege for us to serve the educational needs of the children we have in placement at NECCO Center. In order to do this, we have partnered with the Virtual Community School of Ohio (VCS). VCS is affiliated with the Reynoldsburg School District. Our school provides an alternative option to traditional school for our residents. Special education services are available to our students while they are in placement. The curriculum is aligned with Ohio Content Standards and is the only online school in Ohio that utilizes the McGraw-Hill curriculum, the nation’s largest education publisher.

The school is staffed by a certified teacher and teacher aides. Our residents receive instruction and tutorial assistance in traditional subjects online and this is supported with assignments in the classroom as well as instruction in daily living skills. It is an educational opportunity that our residents enjoy. It is ideal for students who have physical or emotional limitations that make attending a traditional school difficult. They continue to receive instruction appropriate for them while they are in placement at NECCO Center.

Only minimal keyboarding skills are necessary for students to perform the online component of their daily assignments. In most cases students with serious academic disabilities need only to “point and click” to indicate answers.
