STEP DOWN TO FOSTER CARE CONTINUUM

A distinct advantage of choosing NECCO center is the fact that we work seamlessly with the NECCO foster care program to provide an effective step-down for youth on their way back to their families, or preparing for emancipation. For these youth, discharge planning begins at intake - the target length of stay in residential programming being 6-9 months.

NECCO Center provides step-down placement for youth who have met their goals in residential care, to the community based setting of foster care.  After careful identification and evaluation these youth will be matched with loving foster homes appropriate for their needs and continued development. The program maintains the flexibility to provide either respite placements with foster homes, or more permanent placement arrangements.

Extensive training is provided to our foster families throughout the care of our youth. On-going support from our staff makes the transition from our resident program to our therapeutic foster care program a smooth one. Once the youth is transitioned into foster care placement, they will receive on-going support in the foster home from qualified case management staff.
